Starting Monday, Sept. 15, parking will no longer be free at West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park. The District will begin charging $5.42 per hour at the 440 municipal stalls near the beach and Centennial Seawalk. This follows other popular destinations like Whytecliff, Lighthouse, Nelson Canyon, Cypress Falls, and Seaview Walk parks, where paid parking has already generated over $800,000 in revenue between February 2024 and June 2025. District staff estimate Ambleside’s new fees could bring in nearly $600,000 per year. West Vancouver residents and Squamish Nation members can still apply for free parking passes through Impark’s website (over 6,600 passes have already been issued). Not everyone is happy with the change. The Ambleside & Dundarave Business Improvement Association warns that visitors may avoid park lots and instead fill nearby business-area street parking, which is already stretched thin.Local shops rely on turnover of those stalls for customers, and business leaders are urging the District to consider stricter enforcement instead of more fees.(Source: North Shore News)
