Who remembers the Winter Olympics in 2010 held right here at home?

What a time to be in Vancouver. The energy was electric. Streets packed. Flags waving. Strangers high-fiving. The entire region—from Vancouver to Whistler—felt like one big celebration. Cafés were full. Living rooms turned into watch parties. Every goal, every race, every podium moment felt personal.
The city was buzzing in a way that’s hard to describe unless you lived it.
For weeks, the world had its eyes on us. We weren’t just hosting an event. We were showcasing our community, our hospitality, our scenery, and our spirit. It was pride on full display. And long after the cauldron was extinguished, that feeling lingered. Many would say 2010 helped shape the confidence and global identity of our region in the years that followed.
Now, as the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 draw toward their final medal rounds, that familiar excitement starts to stir again. Different host cities. Different time zone. Same passion. Same dreams being realized (or heartbreakingly missed) in fractions of a second.
To every athlete competing for a spot on the podium. What an achievement! Years of discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance come down to one defining performance. That alone deserves respect.
And to our Canadian athletes... GO CANADA GO!!!
